Vanguard of Tanzania’s
Mineral Sovereignty

Unified advocacy for sustainable mining, sector modernization, and national economic empowerment across the United Republic.

Mission & Strategic Vision

The Federation of Miners Associations of Tanzania (FEMATA) serves as the primary governing umbrella for mineral rights holders and regional mining syndicates across the United Republic. Our mission is to bridge the gap between individual miners and national policy-makers, ensuring that the legislative environment supports both exploration and extraction efficiency.

We facilitate the implementation of value-addition strategies, ensuring that Tanzania remains a global hub for gemstone refinement and industrial mineral processing.

Strategic Core Pillars

Sector Formalization

Leading the strategic transition of artisanal miners into legal entities. We provide access to geological data and advanced surveying technologies to integrate miners into the formal national economy.

Machinery Empowerment

Facilitating direct access to modern heavy machinery and specialized recovery equipment. We collaborate with financial institutions to improve market liquidity, providing the fluid working capital necessary for rapid growth.

Health & Safety

Implementing standardized safety protocols and zero-harm initiatives. We work to equip every mining site with the necessary rescue equipment and training to protect the Tanzanian workforce.

Regional Geological Landscapes

Northern Gemstone Zone

Arusha, Kilimanjaro, Manyara, Tanga

Exclusive source for Tanzanite, ruby, garnet, and sapphire, alongside vital industrial minerals like limestone.

Central Critical Zone

Dodoma, Singida

Ancient Archaean Craton yielding critical minerals including lithium, uranium, and copper.

Western Zone

Katavi, Kigoma, Tabora

Extensive polymetallic fields rich in gold, copper, lead, zinc, and iron ore.

Southern Highlands

Iringa, Mbeya, Njombe, Rukwa, Songwe

Diverse terrain supporting coal, gold, and iron ore extraction, as well as strategic rare earth elements.

Southern & Coastal

DSM, Lindi, Morogoro, Mtwara, Pwani, Ruvuma

Market Intelligence

Indicative Mineral Prices

Accurate price discovery is essential for fair trade and sustainable operations. We provide direct integration with the Mining Commission of Tanzania (Tume ya Madini) to ensure every miner has access to the most recent official market valuations for precious and base metals.
